Savoury Baked Pancake

This variation on savoury pancakes is super quick and easy! You could even make these in the morning before lunchboxes need to be packed…


  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 leaves of silverbeet, stem removed, chopped
  • 2/3 cup grated cheddar cheese

The flour can be wheat-based or gluten-free.
I recommend Orgran gluten-free flour which is also free of soy.


  • pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C
  • line an oven tray (30 x 21 cm or 21 x 21 cm) with baking paper
  • place flour, milk and egg in a bowl
  • dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in a dash of warm water, add to the other ingredients
  • mix all the ingredients together well
  • add the chopped silverbeet and grated cheese
  • stir briefly to mix these evenly through the mixture
  • transfer the mixture to the oven tray lined with baking paper
  • bake for 20-25 min at 180 degrees C
  • cut into 6-8 rectangles to serve warm or cold


You could switch out the cheddar cheese for feta cheese (60g, cubed)
